Following the formal establishment of the Cult of Potato in The Hague in late 2004, members of the collective organized the Cult of Potato World Tour, an international series of exhibitions and projects presented in the Netherlands and the United States during 2005.
The tour included Cult of Potato at the Contemporary Arts Collective in Las Vegas, Nevada; Aardappelasiel (Potato Asylum) by Jeffrey Allen Price and Michiel Brink at HogeDRUKgebied in Rotterdam, Netherlands; and a dedicated Cult of Potato installation and residency space at the Islip Art Museum Carriage House in New York. While each exhibition took a different form, they were united by a shared exploration of potato culture through contemporary art, collecting, humor, performance, and international collaboration.
The World Tour marked one of the earliest large-scale international manifestations of the potato art movement, strengthening connections between artists in Europe and the United States while expanding the reach of the Cult of Potato beyond its original founding group.
